About the position
AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented, and experienced mid-level, Transit / Rail Transportation Planner IV to join our North Texas Transit/Rail team.
The successful candidate will have 6–8 years of experience in transit and transportation planning, with a strong background in technical studies, client engagement, and project delivery. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of transit planning projects and contribute to the growth of our practice.
Responsibilities
• Serve as a Project Manager and technical specialist for the region in the application of transit planning.
• Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate complex assignments with full technical responsibility.
• Manage tasks and/or projects independently or as part of a team.
• Maintain and grow local client relationships and demonstrate understanding of local markets.
• Perform and oversee technical studies and prepare reports.
• Facilitate public and agency outreach and engagement activities.
• Work with interdisciplinary teams of technical specialists and manage their project-delivery efforts.
• Assist with proposal development and business development activities.
• Provide oversight and guidance to junior staff.
• Mentor planning staff and support a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
• Participate in client pre-positioning efforts, including attending industry events, supporting capture planning, and contributing to client engagement strategies.
• Collaborate with business development and technical teams to develop winning proposals, including writing technical content, contributing to scope and approach, and supporting interview preparation.
• Assist in identifying new opportunities and supporting go/no-go decisions through market research and client intelligence.
Requirements
• BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Nice-to-haves
• Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Regional/Urban Planning, Political Science, Public Administration or a related field.
• AICP Certified
• Demonstrated technical writing and communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience with transportation projects in North Texas.
• Experience in project management.
• Technical background and expertise in transit and/or transportation planning.
• Experience with state and local transportation agencies, and their standards, policies, and practices.
