They are looking for a Staff Accountant – Assurance, Compilation, Tax (ACT Path) to plan and execute compilation and review engagements, prepare financial statements and tax returns, and collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality work and client satisfaction. Responsibilities - Plan and execute entry to intermediate level compilation and review engagements, with exposure to assurance engagements as assigned, ensuring professional standards, quality, and deadlines are met - Prepare year-end financial statements and related working papers for owner managed businesses across various industries - Prepare entry to intermediate level personal income tax returns (T1s) and related schedules, including analysis of common tax issues - Complete monthly and quarterly bookkeeping engagements, including accounts payable and receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, payroll calculations and remittances, and annual T4 reporting - Assist with the preparation of corporate income tax returns (T2s), HST filings, and other applicable tax filings under supervision - Communicate with clients in a professional and timely manner, responding to inquiries and proactively identifying and resolving issues - Manage assigned engagement timelines, budgets, billing, and work in progress under the guidance of senior team members - Collaborate with team members to support engagement delivery and contribute to efficient internal processes and workflow improvements - Work effectively under tight deadlines, particularly during busy season, while delivering accurate, high-quality work - Perform other related duties as assigned Skills - Completed or near completion of an undergraduate degree and CPA pre-requisite courses - Plans to pursue a CPA designation - Strong client service skills - Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams - Superior verbal and written communication skills - Strong problem solving and analytical skills Benefits - Comprehensive training to cover all aspects of your development - On-the-job learning - A manager mentor to support you throughout your time with us - A top notch CFE prep program with great results year after year - Competitive total compensation package including extended health care, dental and group life benefits - Family Benefits - parental leave top-up program for new parents - Matching RRSP plan - Annual bonus program - Health and wellness spending account. - Vacation (3 weeks per year) - Continuing Professional Development courses are provided as well as numerous informal training and development opportunities. - The Firm will also reimburse you for approved professional development fees and membership dues - Secondment opportunities with Baker Tilly International to Australia and New Zealand - An open-door culture promoting interaction with all staff levels, including partners - A fully stocked kitchen with breakfast foods, healthy snacks, and treats during tax season, plus coffee, tea, and drinks throughout the year - A smart casual dress code (client/day specific) - Client referral, employee referral, and vehicle purchase incentives - Many entertaining social events throughout the year Company Overview - With member firms from coast to coast, the Baker Tilly Canada Cooperative is one of the country’s largest associations of chartered professional accounting firms.
