Simulation Engineer – Robotics & Manufacturing Location: Warren (Hybrid preferred) Duration: 7+ months Target Profile: 5+ years of experience in robot simulation within manufacturing environments. Also referred to as Simulation Engineers with robotics and manufacturing expertise. Project Objectives The objective of this project is to build advanced robotics & automation capabilities and enhance the client’s robotics simulation capacity through a collaborative, services-led engagement with the supplier. The project focuses on enabling scalable, high-fidelity simulation for AMRs and Cobots, supporting perception-in-the-loop testing, full-stack software validation, and multi-robot system evaluation. The supplier will act as a software development partner, providing engineering expertise, architecture design, and implementation support to help the client build a reusable and extensible plant digital twin capability aligned with internal workflows, infrastructure, and long-term roadmap. The engagement is structured to support client ownership of the software platform, 3D assets, data, interfaces, and architectural decisions. The supplier will deliver these capabilities through engineering services. Supplier Requirements 1. 5+ years of experience developing advanced robotic simulation platforms, integrating Robotics, AI, PLC logic, and manufacturing systems 2. Proven experience building simulations with 40+ robots with software-in-the-loop 3. Experience designing simulation scenario language/framework to enable developers and non-developers in modeling realistic factory conditions 4. Proven experience with different physics engines including Isaac Sim, Open3DE, Gazebo, Mujoco o (Note: Isaac Sim, Gazebo, and Mujoco are simulators. Open3DE is a visualizer.) 5. Experience architecting and deploying simulations onto multi-GPU infrastructure for automated pipelines both on-premises and cloud-based 6. Proven experience integrating robots through ROS 2, Fanuc/Roboguide, or similar interfaces, with >500 ROS nodes, and >5000 ROS topics 7. Experience creating discrete-event simulations for path planning optimizations 8. Experience in creating co-simulations of discrete-events with continuous physics-based simulations 9. Experience simulating multiple robots and sensors in real time, with realistic LiDAR cameras and physics behavior 10. Experience with 3D model development creating high fidelity maps 11. Experience creating useful simulation metrics and dashboards for reviewing simulation outputs 12. Experience with developing simulation interface that integrates diverse APIs and data formats 13. Experience with database design to handle users, static and dynamic assets, layout and route representations, and simulation sessions Objectives & Outcomes 1. Physics-based simulation of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and Cobot cells 2. Simulation-in-the-loop testing of autonomy, perception, and control software 3. Reusable abstractions of robot hardware, sensors, and PLC simulation 4. Scalable execution and orchestration of simulations for engineering validation, regression, and scenario testing 5.
