Mortenson is a top builder, developer, and EPC company seeking a Safety Engineer I or II to implement their Zero Injury Safety program on construction sites. The role involves ensuring a safe work environment for team members and visitors while collaborating with various stakeholders to manage safety protocols and activities.
Responsibilities
- Implement and administer safety program at each worksite, assist in developing site-specific safety activities, conduct safety orientation/training
- Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, analyze safety data, assist with major incident analysis, manage OSHA reporting
- Review safety submittals, monitor trade partner work plans, assist with onsite injury management, organize safety celebrations, participate in project planning/hazard analysis
- Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, maintain knowledge of safety standards/regulations, serve as safety resource, attend/chair safety meetings
- Collaborate with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, accompany safety/health/OSHA personnel on tours, ensure maintenance of safety equipment, manage PPE and safety budget
- Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
Skills
- Bachelor's or associate degree in occupational safety, health, or related field OR High school diploma with CHST or STS certification, OSHA 30 Hour training, and minimum five years of construction experience
- Previous related internship experience
- Current driver's license
- Detail-oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety-related software programs
- Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
- Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Effective public speaking and presentation skills
- Effective communication and active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback, ability to travel up to 100%
- Manufacturing experience preferred, but not required
- One year of related experience for Safety Engineer II
- High school diploma, STS/CHST Certification, OSHA 30 Hour Training, and a minimum of seven years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work, including at least five years with responsibility for managing safety programs at the crew or project level, conducting and reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, planning work activities
