About the position The Registered Nurse at the Brighton Center for Specialty Care is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to orthopaedic surgery patients. This role involves coordinating pre-operative care, conducting patient education, and ensuring efficient utilization of operating room resources. The nurse will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction, while also participating in quality improvement initiatives. Responsibilities • Provides nursing care to Orthopaedic Surgery patients scheduled for surgery. , • Coordinates pre-operative care for orthopaedic patients, including lab result follow-up and medication management. , • Conducts patient and family education on surgical needs, including in-person and telehealth classes. , • Performs nursing assessments and post-operative care, including wound and incision site assessments. , • Prepares consent for patients as directed under MM protocol. , • Develops and distributes weekly OR list for the Orthopaedic team. , • Provides tele-health nursing, including triaging calls from patients and families. , • Collaborates with health team members to ensure continuity of care. , • Assists in developing competencies, protocols, and patient education tools. , • Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Requirements • Current license to practice Nursing in the State of Michigan. , • Three years of direct experience with Adult Orthopaedic patients as a RN within the last five years. , • Experience working with total joint replacement patient population is preferred. , • Willingness to travel to off-site clinics for coverage. Nice-to-haves • Ambulatory Care experience including telephone triage in a surgical population. , • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
