Job Summary
Global Growth Holdings is seeking a Part-Time Contract In-House Attorney to serve as a key member of our legal team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned appellate practitioner with substantial experience briefing and arguing appeals at both the state and federal levels, combined with a strong foundation in commercial and civil litigation. This position requires an attorney who can operate independently, exercise sound judgment on complex legal questions, and deliver high-quality work product on demanding timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Appellate Practice
· Draft, review, and file appellate briefs, petitions for discretionary review, motions for rehearing, and related filings in state and federal appellate courts.
· Analyze trial records and identify preserved issues for appeal, including evidentiary rulings, jury instruction errors, and dispositive motion practice.
· Present oral argument before appellate panels when required.
Commercial & Civil Litigation
· Manage active litigation matters from pleading through disposition, including discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and courtroom appearances.
· Draft and respond to dispositive motions, motions in limine, and other pre-trial and post-trial filings.
· Coordinate with outside counsel on matters requiring co-counsel or local counsel arrangements.
General In-House Counsel
· Advise internal stakeholders on contract interpretation, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment across the company’s business operations.
· Conduct targeted legal research and prepare memoranda on emerging legal issues affecting the company.
· Support intellectual property matters, including patent and trademark filings, disputes, and portfolio management, as the need arises.
Required Qualifications
· Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
· Active license in good standing to practice law in North Carolina.
· Minimum of five (5) years of appellate experience at both the state and federal levels, with a demonstrated record of briefing and arguing appeals.
· Proven track record in commercial and civil litigation, including trial experience.
· Thorough knowledge of North Carolina state court procedures, the North Carolina Rules of Appellate Procedure, and federal court practice.
· Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent matters, prioritize effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
· Admission to one or more North Carolina federal district courts (Western, Middle, or Eastern District) and/or the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
· Experience working in-house or in a corporate legal department.
· Background in patent or trademark law, including prosecution or litigation.
· Familiarity with complex commercial disputes involving breach of contract, corporate governance, or shareholder matters.
· Experience with federal criminal defense or government investigations is a plus.
Pay: $5,000.00 per month
