About the position Seyfarth Shaw LLP, an international law firm with approximately 1000 attorneys, has an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified and experienced Employment Law Advisor and Workplace Investigator to join our Seattle team as an Associate Attorney. This role requires a legal professional with a strong background (5-9 years) in employment law, workplace investigations, and risk mitigation strategies. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on compliance, workplace policies, and proactive strategies to address employment-related challenges. This position involves handling cases independently, conducting thorough investigations, and delivering high-quality legal analyses and reports. You’ll be a member of our consistently ranked and nationally recognized Labor & Employment practice group. Responsibilities • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing day-to-day counseling on employment law issues, workplace policies, and risk mitigation strategies. • Advise employers on compliance with federal and Washington state employment laws and regulations. • Manage cases independently from inception through resolution, ensuring timely and effective outcomes. • Develop and implement proactive employment strategies tailored to client needs. • Conduct impartial and thorough investigations into workplace complaints, including harassment, fraud, compliance issues, and whistleblower claims. • Prepare detailed, accurate, and substantiated reports that include complex legal analyses. • Perform legal research on employment law and workplace investigation issues • Counsel clients on investigation processes and best practices. • Develop and present training materials related to workplace investigations to educate clients and their teams. Requirements • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in Washington state, or the ability to waive in. • Extensive knowledge of federal and Washington state employment laws and regulations. • Proven experience with day-to-day counseling on employment law issues. • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations and preparing detailed legal reports. • Strong analytical and legal research skills. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and effectively. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients. • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work. • Proactive problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.
