$25/hour | Director of Legal Talent Integration (Fractional Leadership Role) 20 Hours/Week | Remote | Long-Term Independent Contractor Mandatory sync time: 7:30 am – 12:30 pm (US Pacific time) ________________________________________ About Rose Law Firm Rose Law Firm is a fully remote, business-oriented U.S. law firm serving middle-market business owners in litigation, transactions, succession planning, and complex advisory matters. Our leadership includes attorneys trained at top-tier U.S. law schools, including Harvard, Columbia, Georgetown, and the University of Chicago. The firm has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Most Admired Law Firms in Oregon and is led by a recipient of the Portland Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 distinction. We operate with a distributed team of U.S.-licensed attorneys and internationally trained lawyers functioning as high-level Supporting Professionals (SPs). Many of our SPs come from strong common-law jurisdictions and are selected for intellectual rigor, work ethic, and coachability—not pedigree alone. We believe excellence is built through systems. We invest heavily in: •Structured delegation models • Writing discipline and reasoning standards • Professional development pathways • AI-assisted legal workflows • Clear supervision hierarchies • Measurable performance metrics We are building something deliberate: a modern, AI-forward law firm with real standards and real accountability. We are now seeking a Director of Legal Talent Integration to lead and formalize the next stage of our talent development model. ________________________________________ The Role This is a fractional leadership position (20+ hours per week) focused on integrating early-career legal professionals into live U.S. law firm workflows. This is not administrative training. This role sits at the intersection of: • Legal writing standards • Professional development • Supervision and feedback loops • Quality control • AI-assisted workflow integration • Systems design Your mandate is to reduce ramp time, elevate writing and reasoning standards, and ensure that junior legal professionals become productive, trusted contributors within an attorney-driven environment. You will work closely with Responsible Attorneys (RAs), firm leadership, and internationally trained legal professionals across multiple time zones. Leadership Integration This role is a member of the firm’s Core Leadership Team. The Core Leadership Team meets weekly to review firm performance, talent development, workflow integrity, operational priorities, and strategic initiatives. These meetings are disciplined, forward-looking working sessions—not updates for optics. As Director of Legal Talent Integration, you will contribute directly to leadership discussions regarding attorney leverage, SP development, standards enforcement, AI integration, and structural improvements. Your perspective will influence real decisions about how the firm grows and scales. ________________________________________ Core Responsibilities 1. Talent Assessment & Development • Evaluate baseline writing, research, and professional readiness. • Identify strengths, gaps, and judgment maturity. • Develop structured improvement plans. • Establish clear advancement thresholds. • Provide direct, candid feedback. Clarity is valued over comfort. ________________________________________ 2. Legal Writing & Quality Standards • Redline memos, pleadings, discovery drafts, and transactional documents. • Elevate structure, clarity, tone, and disciplined reasoning. • Build measurable writing standards. • Create repeatable evaluation rubrics. • Ensure near-senior quality before exposure to attorneys. ________________________________________ 3. Integration into Live Matters • Prepare SPs before assignment to Responsible Attorneys. • Match skill level to workflow complexity. • Protect attorney time from preventable quality issues. • Collect structured RA feedback and calibrate performance. Attorney confidence is essential to system sustainability. ________________________________________ 4. Systems & Program Development • Improve and formalize our onboarding framework. • Build a structured 6-month integration pathway. • Document supervision standards and workflow protocols. • Reduce ramp time from approximately 9 months toward 6 months. • Incorporate AI tools into training responsibly and effectively. We are building a repeatable legal talent supply chain—not an informal mentorship program. ________________________________________ 5. Sentric Placement Readiness & Certification In addition to internal integration, you are responsible for preparing qualified SPs for external placement through Sentric Legal. This includes: A. Readiness Certification Framework Develop tiered certification standards (e.g., Placement-Ready I / II / Premium AI-Certified). Define measurable thresholds for: Writing quality Workflow autonomy Administrative reliability Attorney feedback scores AI fluency Establish documented graduation criteria. B. Market-Facing Quality Control Ensure SPs presented to external firms meet higher-than-market standards. Protect Sentric’s brand by screening out premature candidates. Maintain a “no marginal placements” discipline. C. Placement Preparation Oversee: Resume refinement Writing sample curation Case portfolio assembly Performance summaries Supervisor evaluation documentation Ensure external candidates are professionally market-ready. D. Feedback Loop from Placements Collect structured feedback from placed firms. Identify integration gaps. Update training pathways based on real-world market signals. E. Dual-Track Development Distinguish between: SPs developing primarily for RLF internal roles SPs developing for external Sentric placement Calibrate development pathways accordingly. Sentric placement quality is a revenue and reputation issue, not just a training issue. ________________________________________ Work Structure • 20+ hours per week. • Independent contractor engagement via Upwork. • Fully remote. • Required overlap with U.S. business hours. • Mandatory availability during firm sync window: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM Pacific Time. • Participation in scheduled workflow meetings as needed. • All hours tracked using Upwork’s automatic time tracker. • 90-day initial engagement with strong potential for long-term expansion. You will collaborate daily with a high-performing global team spanning the United States, South Asia, and other jurisdictions. Professionalism, responsiveness, and comfort operating in a distributed environment are essential. ________________________________________ Qualifications Required: • 8+ years of legal experience (litigation or transactional). • Strong legal writing and editing ability. • Experience supervising, mentoring, or training junior legal professionals. • Deep understanding of U.S. law firm workflows. • Comfort operating in a remote, systems-driven environment. • Ability to provide firm, standards-driven feedback. Preferred: • Experience in legal education or structured professional development. • Prior supervision of paralegals or junior associates. • Systems-oriented mindset. • Openness to AI-assisted legal workflows. A JD is welcome but not required. BigLaw pedigree is not required. Judgment, maturity, and authority presence are required. ________________________________________ Compensation • $25/hour. • Anticipated 20+ hours per week. • Performance-based bonus opportunities tied to the following : - Number of SPs certified as placement-ready - Post-placement retention rate (90+ days) - Attorney satisfaction score (internal + external) - Reduction in replacement events - Time-to-certification metric - Placement conversion rate (SPs ready vs SPs placed) • Long-term potential for expanded leadership scope. This role is compensated hourly, but performance and results matter. ________________________________________ What Success Looks Like Within 6 Months • Reduced ramp time for junior legal professionals. • Increased attorney confidence in delegated work. • Documented writing and supervision standards. • Structured integration pathway fully operational. • Clear evaluation metrics tied to advancement decisions. Mandatory Availability This role requires meaningful overlap with U.S. business hours. You must be generally available during our mandatory sync window: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM Pacific Time (Monday–Friday) While the full 5-hour block does not need to be worked daily, consistent availability during this window is required for: • Real-time supervision • Workflow calibration meetings • Attorney feedback loops • Talent integration discussions This is a leadership-level role inside a live operating system. Real-time availability matters. ________________________________________ Technology & Professional Requirements • Reliable high-speed internet. • Computer capable of handling cloud-based systems and AI platforms. • Professional-grade microphone and camera. • Quiet, distraction-free workspace. • Comfort with cloud-based document management and collaboration tools. • Willingness to adopt firm systems and workflows. ________________________________________ Why This Role Matters Rose Law Firm is building the infrastructure that also supports Sentric Legal, our AI-forward legal talent and advisory platform. The effectiveness of this role directly impacts: • Attorney leverage • Client experience • Talent retention • Firm scalability • External placement credibility This is a strategic leadership position inside a modern, globally distributed law firm environment. ________________________________________ Application Process Please submit your resume and a brief note (5–8 paragraphs) describing: • Your experience supervising junior legal professionals. • One example of elevating writing standards in a team. • Your comfort level working within structured systems. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to respond to more detailed questions before interviews.
