Director, Corporate Communications and Public Relations

Job Description: • Drive excellence in corporate communications and public relations to support SCS' reputation and awareness of its sustainability services • Provide comprehensive writing and public relations leadership and services for the company and coordinate with subsidiaries • Provide exceptional editorial support for technical and non-technical company documents • Champion the company's public image and thought leadership and secure effective and positive media coverage • Report to the Vice President of Corporate Marketing and work closely with sales, marketing, executive, and program management teams • Develop or refresh guidelines for written and recorded corporate communications and oversee development of online content and thought leadership materials • Provide leadership and strategic direction on external and internal communications strategy and content • Review company communication policies and recommend updates • Build and drive an effective public relations strategy in concert with marketing leadership and other company leaders • Generate compelling content across multiple media modes and platforms and provide editorial feedback • Develop a public relations content calendar and execute tactics • Develop and nurture key media relationships and spearhead outreach to gain exposure for thought leadership content • Monitor media trends and competitive landscape and report internally • Reinforce SCS clients PR initiatives and build relationships with key SCS clients to generate positive PR • Establish an SCS speakers bureau and provide media training, coaching, and messaging support • Manage publicity for live events and coordinate with digital marketing for social media presence • Manage PR-related vendors and contractors and act as a key member of the crisis communications team • Monitor, track, and support award submissions and track and report PR analytics Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field and 15+ years of related professional experience • Highly versatile and proficient writing skills, capable of targeting both technical and non-technical audiences • Exceptional editing skills • Demonstrated ability in science and sustainability-related PR and communications • Strong media relationships in SCS-related fields • Successful track record of pitching and placing stories • Well-developed professional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adjust communication style appropriately for various audiences • Complete fluency in English in written and oral communication • Proficient with business software including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. • Strong customer service and teamwork orientation • Self-starter with good judgment and strong organization, prioritization, planning, and project management skills • Ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple projects and priorities in a highly dynamic environment Benefits: • SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. • This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips.
