Public Relations and Media Intern

Overview: Otter Public Relations is seeking motivated and detail-oriented interns who are passionate about media, storytelling, and communications. As a Public Relations and Media Intern, you'll support our award-winning team in crafting stories that make an impact, building relationships with journalists, and developing writing and research skills that will serve you throughout your career. We welcome all experience levels and provide extensive hands-on training in public relations, media relations, and professional writing. Job Responsibilities: • Draft and edit press releases, media pitches, and client communications. • Research journalists, publications, and media outlets relevant to client industries. • Monitor media coverage and compile daily and weekly client reports. • Conduct news and trend research to identify new story opportunities. • Respond to journalist requests and support media outreach efforts. • Maintain and update media databases. • Collaborate with publicists and account strategists to support client campaigns. • Contribute to creative brainstorming sessions and campaign development. • Support day-to-day PR operations with administrative and client-related tasks. Qualifications: • Strong writing and communication skills. • Interest in media, journalism, or public relations. • Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn. • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. • Experience with Google Workspace or project management tools (like Asana) is a plus. Education and Experience: • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, or related field. • Prior writing, journalism, or PR experience is a plus (student or internship experience accepted).
