Manager/Director/VP, Biomarkers (Omics & Bioinformatics)

We move quickly, work efficiently, and enjoy an environment defined by competence. Blueprint is building a measurement-first system for human health. We need a builder with a strong science acumen to own our biomarker strategy end-to-end, from selecting assays and partners to turning longitudinal, high-precision multi-omics into decisions, products, and proof. Requirements What you’ll own: • Strategy: Define the biomarker roadmap across all major ’omics (methylation/epigenomics, RNA/transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) with high precision and repeatability over time. • Partnerships: Source, vet, and negotiate with labs/CROs/platforms (CLIA/CAP, research-grade), set SLAs, QC bars, batch schedules, and data contracts. • Assay selection & validation: Choose platforms (e.g., EPIC/WGBS, RNA-seq, Olink/SomaScan, targeted LC-MS/GC-MS, as well as emerging tech) and design validation plans (replicates, spike-ins, controls, precision/accuracy, LOD/LOQ). • Pipelines & analytics: Stand up ingestion/QC/normalization pipelines; build longitudinal models (mixed-effects, time-series) to detect true within-person change. Bioinformatics • product: Translate signals into deployable metrics (risk, trend, response) that power protocols, content, and customer experiences. • Study design & compliance: Architect IRB-appropriate protocols; ensure data governance (HIPAA/PHI), CAP/CLIA awareness for claims, and auditable methods. • Cross-functional leadership: Partner with departments and stakeholders to turn evidence into clear, defensible narratives and user experiences. • Reporting: Oversee the design, improvement, and maintenance of a biomarker performance dashboard (assay QC, turnaround, failure rates, cost per insight) and a living evidence dossier. You’re great at: • Practical execution. Strengths/limits, QC levers, and cost/throughput trade-offs across epigenetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics. • All-omics fluency & aging clocks. Comfortable with proteomics, DNA methylation, transcriptomics, metabolomics—and how they power biological aging clocks and complementary biomarker panels. • Design and User Experience Intuitions. You pick the right tool (mixed models, causal graphs, simple rules) matched to data quality and claim risk. • Partner management. You’ve scaled with external labs and enforce SLAs and data standards without slowing progress. • Biomarker platforms & network. Deep hands-on knowledge of existing and emerging measurement systems (lab and device) and a strong partner network across the space. • Large-scale data, ML & AI. You’ve cleaned, modeled, and interpreted big datasets end-to-end, applying machine learning to extract stable, decision-ready signals. • Consumer biomarker systems. You’ve built, maintained, or overseen consumer-facing biomarker pipelines and interfaces, turning complex science into clear, reliable user metrics. • Clinical data expertise. Experienced with large clinical datasets—analysis, interpretation, and presentation—translating results for technical teams, clinicians, and executives. Qualifications: • PhD or MS in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, data science, or related field. • 6–10+ years designing and managing/running multi-omics projects (industry/startup or leading academic core). • Hands-on with: Python/R, SQL; pipeline tooling; cloud warehousing, data storage and processing; Git & containers. • Familiarity with CLIA/CAP contexts, HIPAA/PHI, and evidence standards for consumer-facing health claims. • Excellent communicator who moves smoothly from technical memos to exec-level decisions. Benefits Base Salary: $130-250k
