Strategic Litigation and Advocacy Intern, Summer

Join Physicians for Human Rights as a Strategic Litigation and Advocacy Intern to support legal advocacy and legislative efforts in human rights. Your Role Here’s what you will be doing: • Contribute to research and drafting of amicus briefs and other advocacy materials • Track and support advocacy around key legislation and resolutions • Update PHR’s strategic litigation tracker and monitor ongoing cases • Identify opportunities for PHR to provide support through its research in strategic litigation • Draft talking points and summaries of PHR’s research for elected officials • Track state and federal legislation impacting PHR’s focus areas • Assist with general program and administrative tasks including meeting preparations, background research, data entry, and internal reporting • Attend departmental and staff meetings, as well as learning and social events with interns and staff About You The company is looking for: • Students enrolled at U.S. law schools who have completed at least one year of law school before the internship starts • Previous experience in civil rights, reproductive rights, immigrant rights, or related fields through coursework, volunteer, or professional experience is strongly desirable • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent editing abilities • Excellent research and analytical skills • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with PHR staff and external partners • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to human rights • Mature judgment, strong integrity, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality when required • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through Location and Hours • Remote position with optional work at PHR headquarters in New York City • Approximately 35-40 hours per week • Internship commences in June with at least a 12-week commitment • Applications welcomed from candidates located out of state Training & Development • Exposure to PHR’s domestic legal advocacy efforts • Participation in regular learning and social events with interns and staff • PHR-provided career mentoring How to Apply Please send a cover letter, resume, and three references to the official email address.
