Why This Role Matters The Senior Data Engineer will be a cornerstone of our Product Execution and Instrumentation team, responsible for designing, building, and operating the next generation of data pipelines that power content recommendation, audience analytics, and operational efficiency across arenaflex’s portfolio. Key Responsibilities Data Platform Design & Development - Architect, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using Scala, Python, and PySpark that ingest, transform, and expose data at massive scale. - Design and implement ETL/ELT processes in both cloud (AWS, Snowflake, Databricks) and on‑prem environments, ensuring high reliability and performance. - Lead the migration toward a Lakehouse‑driven architecture, leveraging Delta Lake, Snowflake, and Databricks to unify analytics and operational workloads. - Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Architects, and Business Analysts to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions. Operational Excellence & Reliability - Maintain and improve service level agreements (SLAs) for data availability, latency, and quality. - Implement monitoring, alerting, and automated recovery mechanisms using AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar tools. - Document data models, pipeline logic, and operational procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance. - Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (Scrum, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives) to drive continuous improvement. Innovation & Optimization - Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes, reduce cost, and improve data throughput. - Prototype emerging technologies—such as real‑time streaming with Kafka (referred to as “Wind River” in internal terminology) and serverless data processing—to keep arenaflex at the cutting edge. - Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning, code quality, and best practices.
