arenaflex is a global retail powerhouse, ranked among the world’s largest retailers with a presence in fourteen countries. Our mission is to turn data into decisive action, fueling a seamless shopping experience for millions of customers daily. Our technology division—arenaflex IT—supports the massive scale of our operations, ensuring that every product, price, and inventory decision is underpinned by reliable, real‑time data. As we continue to expand our digital footprint, we are looking for a seasoned Data Engineer to champion the design, development, and automation of our data pipelines. If you are passionate about turning raw data into actionable insight and love solving complex problems at scale, this is the role for you.
Why This Role Matters
The Data Specialist – Data Analytics is the linchpin of arenaflex’s analytics ecosystem. You will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data to business intelligence (BI), advanced analytics, and machine‑learning services. Your work will directly influence product strategy, inventory optimization, pricing dynamics, and customer experience across the entire organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and operationalize data pipelines to make data readily available for BI, advanced analytics, and downstream services.
- Partner with data modelers, data/BI architects, and product owners to design robust, scalable data flows.
- Develop, test, and maintain ETL/ELT processes using Informatica Cloud (IICS) and PowerCenter.
- Leverage Azure services—including Azure SQL Data Warehouse (Synapse), ADLS, Azure Event Hub, and Azure Databricks—to accelerate data product delivery.
- Implement large‑scale relational and NoSQL solutions, delivering flexible data‑handling platforms that enable high‑value experiences for the business.
- Identify, design, and execute process automation opportunities: automate manual workflows, improve data delivery latency, and enhance data reliability.
- Continuously evaluate and improve data reliability, performance, and quality, ensuring the “single source of truth” remains trustworthy.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences, both written and verbally, fostering cross‑functional understanding.
- Conduct peer reviews of fellow data architects’ work to maintain high standards of engineering excellence.
Essential Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience designing and operating data pipelines with large, complex data sets.
- 2+ years of practical experience with Informatica PowerCenter and Informatica IICS.
- 2+ years of experience working with cloud technologies such as Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Event Hub, and other big‑data platforms.
- 2+ years of experience in data modeling, ETL, and data warehousing concepts.
- Proficiency in data integration patterns including event/message‑driven integration (Kafka, Azure Event Hub) and batch ETL.
- Strong understanding of database storage concepts: Data Lake, Data Warehouse, NoSQL, Graph, and relational models.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, agile development environment.
Preferred Qualifications & Nice‑to‑Haves
- Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate).
- Experience delivering data solutions through advanced programming techniques (Python, Scala, Java).
- Exposure to the retail industry and a genuine interest in how data drives consumer experiences.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical details for business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SAP integration tools and Enterprise Scheduler (e.g., UC4/Automic).
Core Skills & Competencies
- Technical Expertise: Mastery of ETL/ELT design, data pipeline orchestration, and cloud‑native data services.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex data problems, design elegant solutions, and anticipate future scalability needs.
- Collaboration: Proven track record of working closely with product owners, data scientists, and business analysts.
- Automation Mindset: Focus on reducing manual effort through scripting, workflow automation, and CI/CD for data pipelines.
- Quality Focus: Commitment to data governance, data quality standards, and rigorous testing practices.
- Adaptability: Comfortable navigating shifting priorities and evolving technology stacks within a dynamic retail environment.
