The role involves providing day-to-day financial and accounting support, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations, and performing various administrative tasks. Responsibilities - Provides day-to-day financial & accounting support using an advanced knowledge of applicable skills, methods & practices & some innovation, analysis, & reasoning to choose appropriate alternatives from among pre-defined policies & procedures to complete work that includes successive steps & involves some non-routine problems &/or decisions - Applies industry and professional standards, university policy and procedure, federal and state laws and other regulations - Provides administrative &/or clerical support - Additionally, the temporary Financial Assistant is responsible for… - Accounting policy & procedure - Accounts payable - Expense reimbursement - Processing Payments - Purchase Orders - Wire transfers - Financial Data Entry and Upkeep - Budget Statements Reconciliation - Perform Other Duties Skills - Associate Degree in Accounting or the equivalent combination, training and experience - 1-2 years of experience in a financial support function - 1-2 years of administrative experience in an academic setting - Experience with account reconciliation - Experience with Payroll - Helpful, respectful, approachable, building a positive work environment, receptive to feedback, demonstrates ability to work on multiple projects Company Overview - Northwestern University is a private research and teaching university that offers academic programs across various fields of study.
