About the Position: The Patient Advocacy Liaison/ Manager is responsible for supporting Edgewise’s interactions and collaborations with the Becker Muscular Dystrophy community in their specified region.  This individual will serve as a key field-based advocacy liaison responsible for building our presence with regional advocacy partners with a focus on raising awareness of and aiding in educational efforts about Becker.  Working in close coordination with other Edgewise advocacy team members, this individual will gain a deep understanding of the Becker advocacy landscape and bring field insights back to inform broader strategies and programs.  This individual will work directly with the local Becker communities including patients, health care providers, access and reimbursement stakeholders and local grassroots advocacy groups. This individual will engage and educate local communities, create connections between patients and high-quality care resources, and help patients build stronger community networks and care teams. By facilitating collaboration between patients, families, advocacy organizations, and health care providers, this role helps ensure that every person living with Becker has access to quality information and knowledgeable care. Essential Job Duties and Functions: - In partnership, and under the direction of the Team Lead, create and execute an engagement and outreach plan based upon areas of mutual interest and need - Develop programs and partnerships that foster a sense of community and connection among patients, caregivers, providers, and advocates - Support patients and families understand the importance of and how to build a comprehensive care team - Provide resources and connections to patients seeking experienced and specialized care in Becker, through trusted clinical networks - Develop strong collaborations with select advocacy groups focused at the regional level and serve as a point of contact - Organize and facilitate patient and caregiver education events and networking opportunities - Act as a trusted liaison between the company and the patient community, ensuring that the voice of the patient is represented across local communities - Represent Edgewise at community-based activities and act as an Edgewise ambassador within the region - Support the development of grassroots and local community partnerships to drive awareness and engagement and increase advocacy group investment in Becker - Collaborate with allied health care providers and clinicians to plan and host local educational programs and patient learning events - Partner with advocacy groups locally to co-create relevant and meaningful content for patient education sessions - Manage budget and execute logistics of sponsorships and funding to regional patient organizations/chapters. - Manage logistics and promotion of local events through community networks - Gather insights from local events to inform Edgewise priorities and identify unmet community needs - Collaborate with Market Access team to facilitate reimbursement at the local level, and provide insights back on state, regional and local access issues and trends. - Work closely with internal teams like Medical Affairs, Commercial, Communications to align on strategy messaging and compliance - Provide regional insights and feedback to inform national advocacy and community strategies and program development - Support medical affairs during site visits, and identify a larger network of allied health professionals that support Becker patients - Support Edgewise’s internal culture by infusing a patient focus in daily interactions and enhancing the internal awareness of the Becker patient journey. Required Education, Experience and Skills: - Bachelor's degree with 3+years of progressive industry/relevant professional experience or 5+ years of patient advocacy experience - Experience applying patient-centered perspectives in a healthcare or biotechnology company is strongly preferred; candidates with comparable experience within a patient advocacy organization that demonstrates transferable skills for an industry setting can also apply - Prior experience in rare diseases preferred - Demonstrated examples of effective patient engagement and stakeholder management - Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly - Ability to learn complex scientific or medical topics and translate them into clear, accurate, and accessible language for non-technical audiences - Familiarity with patient access and reimbursement with an ability to educate the community on these concepts - Proficiency in navigating a high energy and dynamic work environment and ability to work alongside colleagues at all management levels with comfort - Willingness to travel up to 70-80% of the time including weekends.
