Medical Billing Analyst Preceptor-HB Nat-Gov - Carilion Clinic - Roanoke, VA - work from home job Company: Carilion Clinic Job description: How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare: Provide educational support for Revenue Cycle accounts receivable function within multiple third-party payors/teams. Maintain and disseminate advanced working knowledge of multiple payors and related job responsibilities. Follow and instruct on HIPAA requirements to protect patient health information. Work in a fast paced, ever changing environment. Located in an office environment. The role has quality and production requirements with quality reviews in place. This position requires detailed analysis, decision making, and critical thinking to resolve claims problems. Support training and education of those in the Medical Billing Analyst I and Medical Billing Analyst II roles within assigned area of responsibility. Some of the duties include, but are not limited to: -Apply an in-depth knowledge of multiple payors. Understand billing requirements and government regulations. Remain up-to-date current on procedures and policies to resolve problems related to outstanding claims. -Recognize the various timeframe requirements of assigned payer(s) and serve as the secondary line of defense against financial losses through communication with payor representatives and fervent pursuit of applicable appeals processes. -Independently identify and perform root cause analysis of complicated accounts to evaluate, diagnose, and adjudicate claims. -Continuously expand knowledge of all aspects of Revenue Cycle including; but not limited to, Patient Access, Authorization, Utilization Management, charge capture, coding, medical terminology, billing, appeals, cash flows, customer service, payor remittance data, and collections. -Lead complex project assignments and provide updates to management. -Monitor and report on receivable balances which include at risk or high dollar accounts. Apply appropriate and measured collection techniques to resolve problem accounts. -Quickly respond to customer service inquiries in an accurate and concise manner. Documents all information for retrieval by others. -Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures. -Serve as preceptor during the new hire onboarding process. -Coordinate new hire activities to insure successful completion of core competencies. -Identify and provide continuing and refresher education. -Provide continuous updates on new hire progression to management during the onboarding process. -Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) liaison to Operations Technical Support during user acceptance testing. -Review and maintain department policies and procedures Position is M-F 8:00-4:30 with flexible schedule and remote work opportunities Discover training needs and provide solid training of various skills. Desire to invest in increasing others knowledge and confidence in the billing arena. Motivate team members. Position requires critical thinking and ability to work with payors to accomplish quick resolutions for claims Must be able to multi-task and work with multiple systems including Medicare DDE and various payor system Good communication skills with payors, vendors, and co-workers Exciting environment and training provided. What We Require: Education: High School graduate required (or equivalent); some college education preferred. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in related field. Epic experience or equivalent software experience. Prior education and training experience preferred. Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Proficient in approved application/software required within 6-12 months of position start date. Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective communication, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Requires excellent hearing, clear/concise speech, excellent finger dexterity to operate computer terminal/keyboarding as well as use of a calculator. Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills.
