Role: Linux Shell Scripting / Ansible Engineer (3-5 Years of experience)
- Location: Candidates will need to be based in US and can work remotely from anywhere in US.

Role Summary: We are looking for a Linux & Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Shell scripting, Red Hat Linux administration, and Ansible automation to support CIS-managed enterprise infrastructure environments. The role focuses on operational support, automation, standardization, and reliability of Linux systems across multiple client accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Linux Administration (RHEL)
- Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9) systems.
- Perform OS installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and hardening.
- Manage users, groups, permissions, sudo access, and system services.
- Handle filesystem management, LVM, mounts, and storage troubleshooting.
- Monitor system health and performance; resolve OS-level issues within SLA.
- Perform root cause analysis and provide incident/problem resolution.
Shell Scripting
- Develop and maintain Shell scripts (Bash/KSH) for:
- System monitoring and health checks
- Automation of routine operational tasks
- Cleanup, backup, and scheduling activities
- Debug, enhance, and optimize existing scripts to improve efficiency.
CIS Operations & Support
- Provide L2/L3 support for Linux infrastructure in CIS environments.
- Participate in incident, change, and problem management processes.
Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for the position is between $75,000/year - $85,000/year and depends on experience and other qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
