CMLS Financial is a leading provider of capital solutions for residential and commercial property owners, developers, and real estate investors. The Junior Accountant will work closely with the Finance team to record and analyze transactions, assist in financial reporting, and support accounting activities for the Residential and Commercial Capital Markets divisions.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the monthly financial reporting process for the Residential & Commercial Capital Markets divisions, including preparing accrual entries, analyzing results, drafting monthly MD&As, and presenting findings to the Finance team
- Prepare daily warehouse drawdown and repayment requests
- Monitor upcoming balance sheet fundings, renewals, and warehouse/TRS facility capacity
- Prepare, instruct, and verify cash transfers, accounting entries, and EFT and wire payments
- Monitor the shared finance email inbox on a daily basis to ensure that requests are being addressed in a timely manner
- Assist with the month-end close process
- Actively participate in development projects to increase efficiencies and improve internal processes
- Perform other related duties as requested
Skills
- 0-2 years of related work experience in accounting and/or finance
- Undergraduate degree in one of the following concentrations: business administration, accounting, or finance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Prior experience with an accounting software and the ability to analyze and investigate the general ledger is an asset
- Working towards CPA designation considered an asset
- You possess strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail
