About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Middle School Math Tutor to provide engaging virtual instruction to students in grades 6–8. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of math concepts, can simplify complex topics, and is passionate about helping students build confidence and improve performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-on-one and/or small group online tutoring sessions in middle school math
• Teach key concepts including fractions, ratios, pre-algebra, algebra basics, and problem-solving strategies
• Align instruction with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards
• Assess student understanding and tailor lessons to meet individual learning needs
• Track and communicate student progress with parents/guardians
• Create a supportive, engaging, and structured learning environment
Qualifications (Required)
• Valid Florida Teaching Certificate (Math 5–9, Math 6–12, or Elementary Education with math experience)
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field
• Minimum of 1–2 years teaching or tutoring experience at the middle school level
• Strong content knowledge in middle school math
• Excellent communication and student engagement skills
• Comfortable using virtual teaching tools (Zoom, Google Meet, digital whiteboards, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience preparing students for standardized tests (FAST, state assessments)
• Familiarity with platforms such as IXL, Khan Academy, i-Ready, or similar
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
