We are proud to serve the people of Louisiana with integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to equity.About This Position: DOTD Police is responsible for enforcing all federal and state regulations related to vehicle size, weight, permits, registration, and taxation to ensure roadway safety and protect infrastructure. The position requires a POST-certified police officer (or certification within one year), a valid driver’s license, and successful completion of a physical exam and drug screen. Candidates with felony convictions or pending felony charges are disqualified unless legal relief is granted. Employees must also comply with background checks, physical fitness testing, polygraph, and other required exams, along with all applicable laws and DOTD policies. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Possession of a valid driver's license. Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Other Qualifications Job Duties: - Ensure that the applicable rules and regulations are enforced fairly and consistently. - Ensures that required statistical reports, time and attendance reports, and other required administrative paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner.  - Informs the Supervisor of all pertinent information within the region or statewide area as needed. Incumbent maintains records and transmits orders given to him by his supervisor. - Ensure that Department issued equipment is well maintained and used in a manner consistent with DOTD Police Policy. - Incumbent conducts and completes investigations as directed and may be assigned as the lead investigator over lower-level agents. Incumbent maintains a working knowledge of all policies, procedures, and practices in effect. Position Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment Career Progression:  This position may be filled as a as DOTD Enforcement Cadet, Agent, or Senior Agent depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).  Compensation: Below is the starting hourly rate and premium pay amount for each level.  - DOTD Enforcement Cadet -- $1,346.40/ bi-weekly - DOTD Enforcement Agent -- $1,541.60/ bi-weekly - DOTD Enforcement Senior Agent -- $1,649.60/ bi-weekly Please refer to the “Job Specifications” tab located at the top of the LA Careers “Current Job Opportunities” page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualification and job concepts for each level.
