- $140,000 - $150,000 base salary range + annual bonus potential!
- 100% remote in the United States, however, due to state-specific regulatory requirements, Potbelly does not currently support remote work from the following states: Alaska, California, and Hawaii. Job Summary: Potbelly is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Field Human Resources to lead HR initiatives across our national footprint of company-owned and operated locations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with the overall business objectives. The Director of Field HR, will play a crucial role in fostering the good vibes work culture we strive for, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and supporting the organization's talent management and employee relations efforts.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Strategic HR Leadership:
- Serve as a key business partner to the COO and the ops leadership team, ensuring people strategies are in place to enable success
- Build a strategic people plan for Potbelly’s field organization that guides initiatives and effort in the near, medium, and long term
Talent Management:
- Develop and execute talent management strategies to nurture and retain high-performing associates and leaders across field operations
- Support succession planning and development across the operations function to develop a strong bench of leaders for critical roles
Employee Relations:
- Serve as an employee advocate in ensuring a “good vibes” work culture consistent with our values
- Design, implement, and administer HR policies and procedures across the field organization
Performance Management:
- Provide input on designing performance management programs to drive employee development, followed by ensuring successful implementation
- Provide guidance to managers on performance evaluations, feedback, and improvement plans
Compliance and Legal:
- Partner with ops leadership and legal counsel to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws
- Keep abreast of changes in labor regulations and ensure HR policies and procedures reflect accordingly
Training and Development:
- Assess, identify, and support approach to associate and leadership training & development needs
- Support career development initiatives to enhance employee skills and capabilities
HR Metrics and Reporting:
- Partner with HR and business leadership team continuously refine HR metrics that measure the effectiveness of people initiatives and performance
- Provide regular reports including insights and recommendations to executive leadership on people trends, challenges, and opportunities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
- Proven experience as an HR leader, with a focus on field operations
- In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and industry trends
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to travel to various locations as needed
