This is a management-level position and is not subject to any collective bargaining agreement or union representation. Employees of Black Feminist Future work across the 501(c)(3) organization and its 501(c)(4) arm, Black Feminist Future Action Fund, to maintain alignment and cohesion of organizational strategy and objectives across both entities, as established by the Executive Director.

Black Feminist Future (BFF) is an initiative informed by the legacy of Black feminist organizing, grounded in the current pulse of movements, and located at the emergent need to amplify the power of ALL Black women and girls in organizing and building power for the 21st century. BFF is a movement incubator that focuses on the dynamic possibilities of galvanizing the social and political power of those who have the lived experience of being a Black woman or girl including but not limited to trans, cis, gender non conforming, non binary, LGBTQIA, and other gender marginalized people. Our vision of Black feminisms values and centers those who are most marginalized within our communities. BFF intends to amplify and build the leadership of Black feminist leaders and increase the capacity of Black feminist movement building.
Summary
The Associate Director of Development (ADD) is responsible for executing and overseeing implementation of Black Feminist Future’s fundraising efforts, with a focus on increasing organizational support from individual donors, foundations, corporations, and public funders. The ADD executes the departmental strategy defined by the Senior Director of Development (or the Executive Director when applicable) and is responsible for managing portfolio-level initiatives, ensuring deliverables are met, and supporting the operational functioning of the Development team.
This role operates at a departmental level and works closely with senior leadership to implement fundraising strategy, establish and meet objectives, and support staff with resources, structure, and process. While the ADD may contribute insights, they do not set department-wide strategy or lead cross-department decision-making.

Essential Job / Position Functions
Individual Giving and Donor Portfolio Management
- Qualify, develop, and maintain year-round relationships with a portfolio of approximately 100-150 individual donors and prospects to grow immediate funding, long-term funding, and planned gifts.
- Support and coordinate donor engagement alongside the Executive Director and Senior Director, ensuring cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities are executed effectively across the portfolio.
- Grow annual revenue from individual donors through relationship-based fundraising and disciplined moves management, with an emphasis on long-term stewardship and engagement.
- Create individual engagement and stewardship plans, including giving goals, for each donor based on giving history, relationship context, and BFF’s understanding of the donor’s giving potential.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for planned giving inquiries and ensure appropriate follow-up and stewardship.
- Recruit and steward individual donors by supporting year-round engagement activities that maximize revenue and build donor loyalty.
Strategy Execution and Donor Engagement Support
- Provide regular updates to the Senior Director of Development regarding major gift solicitations, moves management strategies, and leadership engagement or stewardship needs.
- Prepare for and participate in regular portfolio review meetings and moves management discussions in partnership with the Senior Director of Development
- Work with the Executive Director and Senior Director of Development to support the development of giving opportunities within current campaigns and identify needed donor-facing collateral.
- Schedule and support donor meetings for the Senior Director of Development to enable strategic stewardship and relationship-building.
Systems, Operations, and Fund Management
- Implement prospect management strategies using the EveryAction CRM, ensuring accurate tracking and follow-through.
- Identify and communicate potential opportunities and relationships that strengthen BFF’s fundraising efforts.
- Manage a small portfolio of institutional and public funders, ensuring deliverables such as proposals and reports are completed accurately and on time.
- Provide operational support related to events, merchandise management, and day-to-day fundraising activities.
Job / Position Skills
- Demonstrated nonprofit fundraising experience with a successful track record in fundraising program management.
- Ability to work collaboratively while supporting strong departmental structure and operations.
- Strong organizational, time management, and deadline management skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working in team-based, cross-functional environments with clear, respectful communication.

Job / Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
- Proven track record in identifying, cultivating, stewarding, soliciting, and closing major gifts.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate donor solicitations and manage a successful donor pipeline.
- 7-10+ years of diversified fundraising experience in a nonprofit environment, including major gifts, annual giving, direct mail, corporate philanthropy, and campaigns. Working knowledge of planned giving required.
- Experience working with CRM databases, specifically EveryAction.
- Strong alignment with and commitment to the work of Black Feminist Future.
