The Admission Application Reviewer plays a critical role in the college admissions process by evaluating and making recommendations on student applications. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES - Carefully assess and review student applications, including academic records, personal essays, letters of recommendation, and standardized test scores. - Apply a holistic approach to understand the applicant's overall potential, considering both academic and extracurricular achievements. - Make recommendations for admissions decisions based on the college's criteria and standards. - Work closely with the admissions team to ensure a consistent and fair review process. - Participate in committee discussions regarding admissions decisions. - Maintain accurate and confidential records of application evaluations and decisions. - Stay updated with the college's admissions policies, including diversity and inclusion guidelines, and ensure compliance in the review process. - Regularly review and suggest improvements to the admissions process to enhance fairness and efficiency. QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform this job. - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. - In addition to the above, minimum of one year of experience in admissions, counseling, or a related field preferred. - Previous experience in higher education preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.  - Strong analytical and decision-making skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. - Familiarity with academic records and standardized testing. - Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. - Commitment to diversity and inclusion principles. - Familiarity with international credentials and test scores (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS). - Previous experience with holistic admissions review processes. - Moderate to advanced computer skills; ability to navigate internet-based tools independently. WORK ENVIRONMENT – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. - This is a part-time, fully remote position with the expectation that this person will be fully engaged and able to perform all duties. - In compliance with the Emerson College remote work policy, candidates must reside in one of the following states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. - Must be able to sit and review applications on a computer for several consecutive hours. - Expected to participate in required training and calibration sessions. - Must maintain consistent attendance and adhere to established review timelines. - The position may require occasional participation in virtual admissions events or committee meetings. - All work must comply with institutional policies and applicable state and federal regulations. This is a part-time position, up to 20 hours/week. IN-OFFICE EXPECTATIONS This position is primarily remote with occasional days in the office. Employees must reside in authorized states as outlined in the Remote Work Policy. Preference will be given to employees who live within commuting distance of an Emerson physical location. Compensation: $22.85 - $27.40 hourly, commensurate with experience.  Grade of Position: 23-05NE Employment Category: Regular.
